Jeep concepts headed to Moab Jeep Safari

Jeep and Mopar didn't create the Moab Easter Jeep Safari, but that they're using the occasion to introduce wild concept vehicles and new parts to a crowd of their most rabid fans has become something of a company tradition. Jeep and Mopar previewed six concepts on Tuesday that are destined for the Moab desert. On hand were three customized Wranglers, a Grand Cherokee, a J-12 concept and a Mighty FC concept.

Post-World War II Japanese tin toys on display in New York

During the rebuilding of Japan after World War II, a Japanese toy designer took a discarded tin can and molded it into an intricate model car. Just inches in length, it created a phenomenon in the 1940s and '50s in Japan called “buriki.” Buriki is derived from “blik,” which is Dutch for "tin toy." A collection of 70 tin-toy vehicles manufactured in Japan is currently on display at New York's Japan Society Gallery. The exhibit, called “Buriki: Japanese Tin Toys from the Golden Age of the American Automobile, The Yoku Tanaka Collection,” runs until Aug.

Tesla, Chrysler take federal loan payment dispute public

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter Thursday to respond to Chrysler's barb that Tesla wasn't the first American automaker to repay the U.S. government for aid. Tesla, which paid off the remaining $451.8 million on its 2010 Department of Energy loan Wednesday, received $465 million under the highly politicized Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program.
