Merc to revive straight six, plus 4cyl and smaller V8s

Mercedes has just signed off a new engine family which will see most full-sized Mercs in future run four-cylinders, downsized V8s and… straight sixes. A friendly Mercedes engineer recently met CAR to disclose the engine plans for future models, including the surprise disclosure that Merc plans to switch to straight sixes, like its rivals over in Munich.  It's fair to say I almost choked on my breakfast croissant when I found out the details of the next MB engine generation which has just been signed off for release in 2015. BMW recalls 2002-05 3-series for light defect

BMW is recalling 241,000 copies of the 3-series in the United States to fix a rear light defect that could lead to crashes. The problem affects rear lights--taillights, brake lights and turn signals--which may only work intermittently. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall covers model years 2002 to 2005 of the 325i, the 325xi, the 330i and the 330xi.

NHTSA announces Kia, Hyundai recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tuesday that Hyundai Motor Co. is recalling almost 60,000 Kia Spectras from the 2004-2007 model years because of fuel-tank straps that can corrode over time. According to NHTSA, one or both straps can break, letting the tank drop to the ground.
