Preview: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2009 – True Grit
Fri, 20 Mar 2009By Ben Whitworth Motor Shows 20 March 2009 16:11 The 2009 Festival of Speed – held this year over the weekend of 3-5 July – will honour motorsport’s endurance heroes with a celebration of Le Mans’ 60th anniversary. ‘The Festival will pay tribute to the men who fought against the odds on the track and won,’ Lord March told CAR Online. ‘With drivers like Jochen Mass, Jacky Ickx, Jackie Stewart and Sterling Moss joining us – drivers that went the extra mile in the pursuit of victory – I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the great endurance drivers, riders and machines in action.’ The Festival will also take in a number of other important anniversaries – both Audi and Morgan will be celebrating their centenaries, the Mini will turn 50, and it will mark 40 years of Frank Williams’ involvement in Formula 1.
Audi A3 crowned 2014 World Car of the Year
Thu, 24 Apr 201410 years in, the World Car Awards are now the most recognised awards for new car excellence on the planet. As a member of the UK jury, I strive to appraise, analyse and drive every contender, from what is a long roll call. The final shortlist was announced at the Geneva motor show in March, with the results revealed at the New York Auto Show.
First Sight: Infiniti Emerg-e
Tue, 06 Mar 2012It's a month before the Geneva motor show and amongst the usual pre Motor Show commotion I receive a string of cryptic emails about an Infiniti electric sports car concept. The name Emerg-e is only revealed as I drive to the secret preview at Park Royal Studios in West London to meet the big three in design – global design director Shiro Nakamura, Francois Bancon of advanced design and head of Nissan Design Europe Victor Nacif. This is clearly a critical car for Infiniti.
