A Florida woman caused a two-vehicle wreck because she was shaving her bikini line rather than watching the road when she plowed into the back of a pickup truck at 45 mph. The MG3 – MG’s new supermini – has been caught testing in Spain ahead of a launch in the UK in early 2013. MG doesn’t offer a great deal of choice for car buyers at the moment, but the MG range is set to expand in 2013 with the addition of the MG3 supermini. The MG3 is already on sale in China, but MG are busy giving the MG3 a bit of a makeover to suit European markets, and a trio of UK plate MG3s have been caught out testing in Spain ahead of a UK launch at the start of the New Year.

BMW works hard to avoid gas-guzzler tax

BMW AG hopes to get out from under the gas-guzzler taxes that are tacked on to the sticker prices of some of its high-performance models in the United States. Jim O'Donnell, president of BMW of North America, says the company is studying fuel-efficiency improvements that could eliminate the gas-guzzler taxes on its vehicles as early as the launch of their redesigns in the next few years. The 2010 550i GT incurs a $1,000 gas-guzzler fee, for example.
