Mon, 14 Apr 2014The Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept (pictured) leaks ahead of its debut The next models in line at Land Rover for a complete makeover are the Freelander and the Discover, both of which are going to be badged Discovery and will be previewed by the Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept at the New York Auto Show in a few days. But we already have the first photo of the new Discovery Vision Concept after Jalopnik published it this afternoon. The new Discovery certainly has influences form the new Range Rover, but it also offers more than a passing resemblance to the Ford Explorer – but then the Ford Explorer was plagiarised from Land Rover in the first place, so that’s probably not a real problem.
Renault/Lovegrove Studio Twin'Z concept
Tue, 09 Apr 2013The Renault Twin'Z concept is a collaborative project with British designer Ross Lovegrove, filling the fifth stage in Laurens van den Acker's 'lifecycle' – Play. It's currently on display at the Milan Salone. Essentially previewing the all-new, rear-engined Twingo co-developed with Daimler, the Twin'Z takes this relatively humble city car and, thanks to the input of Lovegrove, it appears to have taken on an organic nature, which shouldn't be unexpected to those familiar with his work.
BMW's new 5-series next for hybrid power
Wed, 28 Oct 2009The new BMW 5-series being launched this winter is likely to be the next BMW to receive the ActiveHybrid system pioneered on the petrol-electric 7-series and X6 models. BMW engineers admit they can't rely on sales of the pricey hybrid 7-series and X6 to justify the development costs, even though these range-topping halo hybrids were jointly developed with Daimler and GM. Senior sources have indicated that the new 2010 5-series will be the next BMW to get an ActiveHybrid model.
