This year, emissions legislation will force many older taxis off the road, and noting the financial struggles of Manganese Bronze, the makers of the traditional black cab, Nissan has seen the opportunity to muscle in on the market. And it’s not. Lexus has revealed a single photo (above) this morning to announce that a production version of the LF-NX – the Lexus NX – is heading for a debut at this month’s Beijing Motor Show.
Exhibition: Taxis of the World

Renault’s Type AG from 1913 is one historical example. One of the first Parisian taxis, it became known as the “Taxi of the Marne” after 1300 examples transported 6000 men to head off the German army in the first world war.
