Jaguar C-X75 adds Louis Vuitton Award to collection
Wed, 02 Feb 2011Adding to its collection of trophies, the Jaguar C-X75 was last night awarded the Louis Vuitton Classic Concept Award 2010 by a panel of luminaries from the worlds of design, fashion and luxury. Set up in 2009, the annual Louis Vuitton Classic Awards Ceremony took place in Paris on February 1st and recognizes both a classic car and a new innovation within the automotive industry. The Louis Vuitton award is the latest accolade for the C-X75, since its unveiling at the 2010 Paris motor show.
Nissan Patrol breaks obscure Guinness World Record
Mon, 26 Aug 2013The Nissan Patrol, a cooler-looking version of the Infiniti QX80 with a Nissan front end, broke a Guinness World Record on Thursday at Sharjah International Airport in the UAE. The nearly 3-ton truck pulled a 170.9-ton cargo plane for more than 164 feet (50 meters), breaking the previous record for “Heaviest aircraft pulled by any production vehicle” by 15 tons. The previous record was attributed to the Volkswagen Touareg that pulled a Boeing 747 at 155 tons.
Cautious welcome for fuel duty freeze
Tue, 01 Oct 2013MOTORING groups have given a cautious welcome to Chancellor George Osborne's announcement of a freeze on fuel duty until May 2015. Both the AA and the RAC pointed out that Mr Osborne was already getting big sums from motorists in taxation. Professor Stephen Glaister, director of the RAC Foundation, said: "Transport is the single biggest area of household expenditure bar none and our own research shows that 800,000 of the poorest households are in transport poverty, spending a quarter or more of their income on running a car.
