No sign of global auto meltdown at Tokyo Auto Salon
Mon, 19 Jan 2009With more than 600 cars on display and a record number of exhibitors, nothing at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon tuner show hinted at the global economic downturn. As always, there was a great mix of styles, from hard-core, 1,000-hp, supertuned machinery to weird customized scooter tricycles. Auto manufacturers tried hard to capture the minds--if not the wallets--of the younger-than-30 crowd with customized versions of production cars, while tuners were busy persuading power junkies to choose them for their next engine modification.
Hyundai Genesis is practically autonomous on ‘Empty Car Convoy’ (video)
Sat, 12 Jul 2014The Hyundai Genesis driver makes his escape The new Hyundai Genesis is a proper poke by the Koreans at the big, luxury end of the car market, and as such it comes equipped with plenty of luxury features and high-end technology. Hyundai lined up a convoy of six stunt drivers in the new Genesis saloon at their test track in the Mojave Desert, engaged adaptive cruise, lane hold and automatic emergency braking and set it off round the test track.
Aston Martin at the Paris motor show 2008
Fri, 03 Oct 2008By Ben Barry Motor Shows 03 October 2008 10:13 The buzz around Aston Martin continues. The now independent brand is teasing motor show visitors with a styling buck of the One-77 (the ultra-exclusive £1.2 million supercar that’ll be limited to a run of, yep, 77 when it arrives in 2009) that reveals just its front right and rear left aspects, plus there’s an automatic DBS on display and talk of exciting future Aston Martin projects. James Bond’s favourite Aston now comes with Touchtronic – a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox that’s borrowed from the DB9 but substantially beefed up.
