Four Daihatsu concepts for Tokyo 2013 debut

If you thought the old Daihatsu Copen roadster was a bit feminine for a ‘sports’ car, you’ll be pleased with this: Daihatsu’s new, butched-up, small two-seater roadster, the 2014 RMZ Kopen concept. The aggressive-looking mini cabriolet will make its world debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show later this month alongside another, rather interesting version of Daihatsu’s didi prototype – the off-road-inspired XMZ Kopen concept. -- Ken Kesey and friends spent most of the countercultural 1960s driving across the country in a 1939 International Harvester school bus painted in psychedelic colors. Portland, Maine architect Will Winkelman might do less drugs (we don't know), but the 1959 Chevrolet Viking short bus he designed might fit Kesey and his Merry Pranksters, especially if you stacked them head-to-toe. For his client, Winkelman designed a Moroccan theme of colorful patterns and textures across the curtains and twin beds, beaded light fixtures and wood paneling everywhere, approaching the project as one might approach boat-building or a particularly run-down Detroit "fixer-upper." The result has plumbing, power, an olive-drab paint scheme that blends into the New England woods, and the overall sense of a guest bedroom that you can escape in whenever you tire of your host's company.

Classic Car Boot Sale returns to London

Fans of vintage cars, fashion and memorabilia will have all their wishes met at next month’s Classic Car Boot Sale, returning to London’s Southbank Centre. Following the inaugural event last year that attracted over 8,000 visitors this year’s event has been extended over Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March. Located along the riverfront at Southbank Centre between the Queen’s Walk, Hungerford Bridge and Jubilee Gardens, the Classic Car Boot Sale will have an interesting mix of fashions, homeware and memorabilia, all sold from the boots of classic cars.
