JackBeQuick FAQs

Q. From photos I've seen, it appears that the M/C lift is lifting by the exhaust pipes. I thought the whole idea was to avoid that.

A. No,yes. The weight of the motorcycle is transmitted to the frame through JackBeQuick. The exhaust pipes rest on the front rail of the M/C lift for stability of the lift. During development, it was attempted to remove the front rail from the lift to avoid that contact, but the weight of the bike solely on the rear rail created a very unstable situation, tipping the entire lift rearward.

 Q. I do not see how a M/C lift can reach the front and rear brackets at the same time. How does it work?

A. Very astute. You use a standard M/C lift to raise the back by the rear bracket. That bracket is more than 12" wide. That's why it's so stable when lifted. You'll also need a light duty auto-motive type hydraulic jack to lift the front. Never lift the front with the rear tire on the floor!

 Q. I see that some of the hardware is black. I prefer the stainless steel flange bolts that came on the bike.

A. It's all a matter of taste but honestly, we do too. We did not want to force buyers to pay more than $40 extra for 5 bolts. The stock bolts that hold the passenger foot pegs on are a 10MM shank fine threaded bolt. (1.25MM thread)  They're difficult to find and thereby very expensive. When we locate a more reasonable source for the 10X1.25MM bolts, we'll offer it as an option. The front JBQ bracket's hardware is stainless steel. The only source that we've found for larger rear bolts that are like the originals is "Pro-bolt". We have no affiliation or experience with the company. JBQ buyers who prefer OE style bolts are free to replace them. You'll need (2) @ 10X1.25MM X 50MM and (2) @ 10X1.25MM X 40MM long, as well as (1) M8 X 1.25 X 40MM.

 Q. What is the difference between "Standard" and "NC" (No Cat) rear brackets?

A. The standard rear bracket will work with or without a catalytic converter. It is recommended for most applications that have stock height rear suspension and stock exhaust or TORs. It is barely noticeable behind these exhaust systems. For even greater ground clearance required for lowered suspensions or lower visibility that may be desired for upswept exhaust systems (i.e. Hogslayers), buyer may want to opt for the NC version. It only fits models with no catalytic converter and sits 1.75" higher in the frame, so the NC version requires an adapter to fit between JBQ and the M/C lift. There is an extra cost for the adapter.

 Q. Will JBQ scrape on the ground?

A. Early prototype rear brackets scraped in hard left cornering as the bracket's corner was squared off to fit around the catalytic converter. Some were sold, and when the scraping was reported, they were recalled, and a free replacement offered to buyers. The new design took several more months, but has eliminated that possibility.

 Q. Can I purchase the front or rear bracket only?

A. The front bracket is only 9" across, and to try to lift the front of the bike, especially with only an automotive floor jack, with the rear tire on the floor creates a very unstable situation. The whole point of JBQ is to quickly but safely lift your bike, so the front will not be sold separately. However, the LT and Commander have their own plate underneath just behind the exhaust crossover which apparently acts as a lifting bracket, so the front JBQ is not necessary on these models.

 Q. How are the JBQ brackets now made with such a consistent quality?

A. JBQ is made in America using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) laser cutter and a CNC bending brake. Machined parts are fabricated in our own shop. Each unit is manufactured within tolerances of just a few thousandths of an inch. JBQ is then powder coated to match your motorcycle's frame; to become an integral part of it. It is quality you can count on.

Q. Does JBQ fit the Commanders and LT's?

A. The standard rear bracket will fit these models. Even though the catalytic converter on these models has been moved to the headers, the charcoal canister has been relocated slightly, but enough to interfere with the NC bracket. So, bottom line is that with the charcoal canister in place, the Std. bracket is the only option. If there is none, then the NC bracket is an option.

Q. Will you be making JBQ for other models?

A. JBQ has already been developed for the Triumph Rocket III. As other motorcycles become available for testing and fitting, JBQ may be developed for them, as well as other products that will enhance the enjoyment of ownership. Other products are already available.
