By far the most exciting offering from VW was the production version of the new Scirocco. The good news is the firm has managed to combine the aggressive deep front air dams and skinny grille first shown on the car's concept with a healthy dose of the original Giugiaro penned model.

Tue, 07 Apr 2009Mini Speedster from 2001 - looks set to form the basis of a new MINI Speedster Based on the MINI platform, the Speedster version was talked about as long ago as 2001, but never made it to production on the first MINI platform. But perhaps having now covered just about every variant they can think of, BMW has decided that now is the time to revive the car and get it in to production. Small Roadsters, in the vein of the old British open-topped 2 seater ( and its modern ‘Homage’ version – the MX-5) will, I’m sure, see something of a renaissance in the next few years as people start to turn away from big, profligate cars, but still seek some fun motoring.

Organiser Lord March promises the most complete collection of BTCC cars yet assembled, from the Minis and vast Ford Galaxies of the sixties, through the Capris of the Seventies and Cosworths of the Eighties to the saloons of the formula’s Nineties heyday.The Ford and Subaru world rally teams are confirmed, and modern sports car racing will be represented by the Le Mans-winning Audi R10 diesel and GT1 class-winning Aston Martin DBR9 in Gulf colours.
