From production cars to concepts that will never be built, CAR's road test editor Ben Pulman, decides on the 15 most significant models premiered at the IAA...  1 – Land Rover DC100 concept Chunky and funky, it’s Land Rover’s Evoque, the Defender urbanised, modernised and stylised for the 21st century. Range Rovers have become too ‘bling’, but the DC100 has the restrained elegance of the Disco 3 – we’ll ignore its bright yellow sister, the speedster-style DC100 Sport.

Mercedes 300SL Gullwing – the return

Gullwing GmbH are to create a faithful reproduction of the iconic Mercedes 300SL Gullwing The 1950s Mercedes 300SL Gullwing is an iconic car. Remembered affectionately by those old enough to remember it first time round (which I actually don’t!) and associated in the minds of car nuts with Sir Stirling Moss and his exploits in the Mille Miglia (it seems every classic Gullwing that comes on the market is somehow miraculously ‘Driven by Stirling Moss’), it is the epitome of ‘Cool Car’. The huge appeal of the classic Gullwing is also responsible for the direction of the new Mercedes SLS, which pays huge homage to the design of the original.

College Exhibition: Royal College of Art Show 2007

The Royal College of Art's annual post graduate degree show had a new name and a new venue this year. Held for the first time in a large pavilion tent in Kensington Gardens, directly opposite the main Royal College of Art building, 'The Great Exhibition' commemorates the 150th birthday of the South Kensington cultural and educational institutions. Car Design News caught up with a few of the 18 Vehicle Design graduates at a private viewing on June 14th.
