Jaguar E-type, Xke Bonnet Lower Valance Support Member on 2040-parts.com
Elkton, Maryland, US
Jaguar E-Type - Series 1, 1.5 & 2 - Bonnet Lower Valance Support Member
Previously UNAVAILABLE from ANY SOURCE! – This is the main support member of the lower valance panel, and really, the entire bonnet! This piece is carefully formed based on patterns from an excellent original panel. Every flange, bend, and hole is correct - including the main hinge mount caged plate assemblies. It also includes the horn mounting brackets - only required for 3.8 cars - we can supply the panel without these for 4.2 cars. NOTE: This is NOT the whole lower valance, just the vertical rear wall shown in photos 1-4. We have shown the piece installed into a restored lower valance skin in some photos in this listing for demonstration purposes only!
This piece is NOT difficult to remove and replace, and we are happy to provide technical support after the sale! This panel is badly rusted on nearly every bonnet we see in the shop - it is often rusted out, or bent, or the hinge plates have broken bolts in them, or ALL of the above! Don't waste time and money attempting to repair yours, replace the entire thing with this new perfect piece! We have upgraded the caged hinge plate assemblies to a slightly thicker gauge of steel to add strength and ensure proper bonnet support and alignment. OR - send us your Lower Valance and we'll install this piece in the shop - and perform any other re-shaping or repairs it needs - see photos!
Note: These photos are of an earlier batch of these panels, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our panels while maintaining originality... So, this new batch has the hinge plates, cages, and supports (all parts shown in photo #5...) all liberally coated internally with red oxide primer BEFORE assembly - you'll never get rust in these again!
Note 2: This piece differs from the original in only one way - we have used 1/4-20 nuts welded in for the headlamp diaphragm mounting points instead of the original "speed nuts" for the large sheetmetal screws. These screws can be replaced with a 1/4-20 phillips-head machine screw whose head matches the original screw, but this is a much more solid attaching point.
Satisfaction 100% GUARANTEED! – All Monocoque Metalworks panels are guaranteed to be manufactured correctly, fit properly, and be suitable for a 100-point concours restoration.
UPDATE!!! - 3/17/2013 - The new batch is ready to ship!!! - DON'T WAIT - they are going fast already!

MONOCOQUE METALWORKS
Monocoque Metalworks is a fabrication shop located in Northeastern Maryland that specializes in Jaguar E-Type (XKE) body shell restoration. If you are restoring your E-Type, the best place to start is a rock-solid bodyshell (or tub), and we can help! We offer services ranging from the fabrication of a single panel to the construction of an entirely NEW bodyshell!
FABRICATION AND SHIPPING OF ORIGINAL OR CUSTOM BODY PANELS – we have patterns and examples of nearly every E-Type panel and can fabricate any panel you need for your restoration. Before you spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on Martin Robey panels that may or may not fit properly, give us a try! OR, call us as the ONLY supplier of many of the smaller, internal panels that Martin Robey doesn’t supply (or lists in their catalog but don’t actually produce…) Want some extra holes punched? – or some original holes not included? – or the panel produced in a heavier gauge? - no problem!
COMPLETE RESTORATION OF YOUR TUB – we will take in your monocoque bodyshell, strip it down to bare metal, and replace all damaged or rusted panels using the proper techniques. Your shell will be returned to you in primer, dead straight, rock-solid, safe, and EXACTLY as it left the factory.
TUB EXCHANGE – looking to save time? Exchange your existing monocoque bodyshell for one of our already restored shells (subject to availability). You’ll arrive at the shop, unload your shell, and load up a completely restored, PERFECT shell and be back on your way in a few hours! With this service, we can cut your project time down by YEARS! Plus, you can exchange one body style for another – drop off a Coupe or 2+2 shell and take home a roadster!
TUB MODIFICATION – we can “beef up” your tub with heavier gauge components for vintage racing, or add complete sub-frames, roll bars or cages. If you can imagine it, we can fabricate it!
FABRICATION OF AN ENTIRELY NEW TUB – we can build you an entire floor assembly with sills, gussets, tunnel, etc. – a complete cowl/firewall assembly – or an entirely NEW bodyshell!
COMPONENT RESTORATION – We will happily restore any piece you care to ship us and return it to you in as-new condition. This includes, but is not limited to: bonnet components, heaters, door shells, decklids, coupe hatches, etc.
E-Type restoration is a labor of love at Monocoque Metalworks! The shop is outfitted with INDUSTRIAL GRADE MACHINES – many of which are vintage machines themselves – carefully restored and modified with the correct tooling to produce perfect E-Type panels. As a result, you will be amazed by the crisp cuts, straight bends, and perfect holes found on our panels! We have forming capabilities that include shearing, braking, rolling, wire-edging, bead-rolling, notching and punching – in aluminum, steel, or stainless steel - up to and including 16-gauge (.060) or beyond. We utilize a combination of MIG, TIG, Spot, and Plug welding to ensure that your car is assembled with factory-like originality, coupled with strength and safety you can depend on!
