Apple and Ferrari—What could be better?

Recently a press release popped into my email (remember when we used to say “came across my desk”?) that said Eddy Cue, Apple's head of Internet software and services, has joined Ferrari's board of directors. The statement said while on the board Cue, a Ferrari owner, will “aid with his experience in Internet-based commerce.” My two cents: It's a brilliant move for both parties, and the ramifications could be huge. Think about it: Does this mean Apple wants to make stuff for cars?

Bentley Mulsanne Convertible floated

Bentley are planning to take the top off the Mulsanne to create a new range-topping drop-top – the Bentley Mulsanne Convertible. Ever since the Bentley Arnage bit the dust, to be replaced by the Mulsanne, Bentley has been without a convertible at the top of its range. But that looks set to change if enough potential buyers say ‘yes, please’ to the idea of a Bentley Mulsanne Convertible, which is why Bently has revealed the sketches above (and below) of a possible Mulsanne Convertible.

College Exhibition: Creapole MA Degree Show 2009

Creapole, a design school offering degrees in a range of disciplines, held its MA Transportation Design show last week at its campus in Paris, France. The masters students, now in their fifth year of study, have been preparing for the show through the school's intensive program, which includes sociological, ecological and anthropological studies during the fourth year. In the fifth year, program directors Alec Moran and Cyril Randuineau allowed the students to develop a vehicle based on their own theme and invited jury members from the design community to come by and give the students feedback on their various projects.
