JDM Honda Civic Honda Access Option Bumper Pole Kit/Assembly

This auction is for a Honda Access option bumper pole assembly removed from a 1993 JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Honda Civic 3dr HB (EG Series, '92-'95 model).

Finding a bumper pole assembly for an EG Civic these days is extremely rare...finding one that is still in good, working condition is, well.....almost impossible.  I honestly cannot remember the last time I was able to obtain a full bumper pole kit for an EG Civic.  This pole is in perfect working condition.  All mounting hardware is intact.  The mast itself does show some signs of it's age (a bit dull compared to a new, shiny pole) but it moves up and down smoothly with no snags.  Please copy this first pic and save it, as the mounting bracket may be separated from the pole unit for compact shipping purposes.

The switch has some of the paint (or whatever it is) rubbed off, but it is also in perfect working condition:

The mast, extended:

The wiring for the EG Civic pole is EXTREMELY simple...the switch is installed in the center console (e-brake surround console).  The harness runs to the under-dash area and has 1 brown plug and a ground spade. The brown plug is inserted into the #1 option item slot found on the under-dash fuse box/junction block.  The ground spade is grounded onto metal, anywhere convenient. The wiring then goes out the passenger side of the firewall (using the rubber grommet) and up to the pole motor mounting location where it then connects to the pole motor unit.

This is the sub-harness which connects the pole motor unit to the city light on a JDM headlight.  This illuminates the LED at the tip of the pole.  It is a piggy-back type harness which plugs in between the city light socket and the plug for the city light.  If you do not have city lights on your headlights, that is not a problem.  You can simply cut off all of the plugs from this sub-harness and splice the red wire into a driving/parking light source and the black wire to the ground for that light.  If you would rather not cut the intact harness, I have included the vehicle side plug with cut wire which you can use for splicing.

The included vehicle side plug for splicing:

How the wiring looks when everything is connected:

When everything is properly wired, the tip of the light will illuminate when the pole is fully extended.

I have made a quick video clip of this pole being tested.  In the clip you will see the pole being lowered and raised using the switch.  The URL for the clip is here:

Aston Martin recall the majority of cars built since 2007

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

Aston Martin are recalling most of their cars from the last six years A recall by Aston Martin of 17,590 cars might not seem a big deal when you’ve seen recalls from the likes of Toyota running in to the millions. But Aston Martin is a small, bespoke make of high-end luxury GTs and Sports cars, and 17,590 cars is three-quarters of all the cars they’ve built since November 2007. The recall affects all left-hand drive cars built from November 2007 to December 2013 and all right-hand drive cars from May 2012 to December 2013 and is because of some less than kosher plastics in the accelerator pedal.

Non-starting Nissan LEAFs to be reprogrammed

Sun, 17 Apr 2011

NIssan LEAF - date with a laptop They’re not exactly thick on the ground but, as we reported just a week ago, Nissan has already got problems with the Nissan LEAF, which has been refusing to restart once it’s stopped. Not restarting is not exactly a safety issue, so as long as you can actually get your nice new Nissan LEAF to start in the first place there’s no chance it will pack up on you mid-journey (unless you run out of electrickery). But having stumped up at least £10k more than an equivalent ICE car would cost for your LEAF, the least you should be able to expect is it to do what it says on the tin without packing up.
