Lewis Hamilton (pictured) taking pole position in 2014 Chinese Grand Prix Qualifying for the 2014 Chinese Grand Prix was a damp, chilly affair which had the effect of levelling the playing field. But no one told Lewis Hamilton. His cracking form – and a crackingly good Mercedes – took Hamilton to his 34th pole position in F1 – beating Jim Clark’s record in the process – 0.6 seconds ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and 1.1 seconds ahead of world champion Sebastian Vettel.

Jaguar continues to keep interest in the new F-Type piqued with video comparing the sound of the V6 and V8 F-Type. The latest Jaguar marketing magic comes courtesy of a short video with a pair of F-Types pulling away and accelerating hard; one a V6 supercharged and the other a V8 supercharged. We don’t know whether the V6 is the 340PS base F-Type or the 380PS F-Type S, but it makes a fine noise.

Porsche 991 GT3 Cup (2013): the new racer revealed

The first 991-generation to bear the GT3 name isn't a hardcore road car: it's the latest version of the world's most successful racing car. This is the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, a stripped-out racer that'll compete in a one-make racing series from 2013. It'll also spawn other racing versions of the rear-engined icon, and eventually track-day versions of the 991 too.
