BMW M6 Gran Coupe leaks out ahead of debut
Wed, 12 Dec 2012The BMW M6 Gran Coupe – the four-door, swoopy-coupe version of the 6 Series – has leaked out ahead of a debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. We already think the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is probably the best car BMW make, so the arrival of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe offers lots of promise. The 640d Gran Coupe is a joy to drive with sublime handling that belies its size – and stunning performance from the diesel engine in the 640d – and if BMW has managed to endow the M6 Gran Coupe with the same levels of refinement and even more performance and power then the queue for an M6 Gran Coupe is going to be a long one.
Multi-touch UI reduces touchscreen interaction to simple swipes [w/video]
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Touchscreens have become widespread standard features in many cars over the last few years, consolidating the modern car's many functions into one interface. Unlike most other touchscreens, Krenn's interface isn't organized into menus and small, hard-to-hit buttons, but instead makes use of multi-touch gestures, reducing the accuracy and attention needed to operate key functions.
Lightning at the London motor show 2008
Thu, 24 Jul 2008By Guy Bird and CAR reader reporter asp Motor Shows 24 July 2008 09:03 The previous GT revealed by the Lightning Car Company two years ago was a conventional 4.8 V8 petrol sports car but then the firm decided to start again from scratch and become a pure electric car brand. The result – claimed to be Britain's first all-electric sports car – was shown at London… What’s new on Lightning’s London motor show stand? The completely redesigned 2008 GT – only the windscreens are common – is a pure electric vehicle with a claimed 700bhp equivalent of power on tap. It’s a dream machine in every sense: 100 percent electric with four in-wheel motors, slick sports car styling, 0-60mph in under four seconds, a 180-mile range and claimed 10-minute recharge.
