racing classes. The K1 single layer SFI race jacket is a fire jacket for
individuals who are seeking extra protection in the event of an

The safest suit for maximum fire protection is a loose fitting one. A
suit's fire protection capability is directly related to the fit of the
garment. A properly fitted racing suit will have small air gaps in
between the body and the garment. A suit worn too tightly will compress
these air gaps- allowing heat to reach the skin faster.
An
additional consideration should be the position the garment will be worn
in. Specifically, the clamshell orientation of the driving position
requires additional material in order to prevent tugging the wearer. This is especially important when wearing a one piece suit.
A racing suit that fits well while standing may not fit comfortably
when seated and harnessed into a racing seat. It is important to account
for this when selecting a suit: ensure you are the lower end of the
range for a particular size to ensure that there will be enough material
to prevent the suit from tugging when seated.
Features of Proban Cotton:
Our SFI racing fire pants is made from Proban cotton, which is a
fantastic alternative to Nomex. Developed in the 1950s, Proban (PROBAN)
is a fire retardant chemical that can be applied to cotton and other
cellulosic fabrics. In the event of exposure to fire, Proban cotton
decomposes as it burns, forcing fire damage into a localized charred
section that serves as a barrier. Proban has no afterglow, does not
smolder and does not allow the spread of fire outside of the immediately
affected area, greatly reducing the risk of injury. Another benefit of
Proban is that it does not affect the physical properties of the fabric
that it is applied to, as there is no chemical reaction between the two
elements. Proban fabrics are used for protective purposes in industrial,
military, civilian and racing applications, and have developed a proven
reputation as a dependable fire retardant material. There may be an
initial odor caused by this coating, but allowing the material to "air
out" will alleviate this over time.

This is the Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro concept, a 496bhp racing concept built for the 2011 Worthersee Tour. The Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro: A gift to VW Group fanatics
Each year European VW fans gather on the shores of Lake Worthersee in Austria to celebrate their favourite brand, with an emphasis on the Golf GTI. VW Group has usually provided a suitably insane tuned Golf concept for the occasion, and on the GTI's 35th anniversary that would have been the expected option.

This is Bentley’s facelifted Continental GTC and the mid-life tweakery completes Crewe’s revisions to its Continental range. The changes also usher in the higher-power 600bhp Speed model, which Bentley predicts will account for two-thirds of GTC sales. It's also the car Bentley denied they'd build when we scooped the GTC Speed last year! The new Continental GTC range will be on display at next week's Detroit 2009 motor show.

Ford has revealed the 2010 Focus ECOnetic at Frankfurt
For the first time Ford has made Start-Stop an option, which was something we thought should be added to the Fiesta ECOnetic when we had it. The Focus ECOnetic also benefits from Smart Regenerative Charging and something called Tension FEAD (no, we had no idea either, but apparently it reduces friction) which help make the new ECOnetic Focus more economical and less polluting. With Stop-Start fitted to the 1.6 litre Duratorq TDCi the Focus manages to hit the magic 99g/km mark.
