Land Rover is still struggling to keep up with demand for the Range Rover Evoque, and is busy recruiting like mad and moving production to a 24hr, three shift system to help keep up with the number of Evoques flying out of showrooms. In the first year on sale, the Evoque racked up sales of 18,000 and so in demand is the Evoque that Land Rover are even resorting to trying to block grey market sales.

AXE WOES

AN ORDINARY car journey almost turned into a horror film on a highway north of the US city of Boston when an axe smashed through the windscreen of a car. Massachusetts State Police say the axe bounced out of a dump truck. A photo was released showing the axe with a corner of its blade stuck in the passenger side of the car's dashboard.

Top Indian cars fail crash safety tests

SEVERAL of India's most popular small cars have failed independent crash tests, a global car safety watchdog said. David Ward, head of the London car-safety watchdog Global NCAP, which performed the crash tests, said the car industry in India lacked adequate safeguards. Four of five small cars popular on the Indian market last year, including the famous Tata Nano, failed the crash tests.
