CDN has learnt that General Motors is closing its UK Advanced Design Studio as part of its ongoing restructuring program. Clay Dean, GM's executive director of advanced global design and Cadillac's brand director, arrived at the studio on 4 August to announce the closure to staff. The UK studio, which opened in 1999, was predominantly involved in the creation of Cadillac concept cars and was originally planned to be a short-term confidential operation as the smallest of GM's design studios.

Seat Altea Freetrack (2007): first official pictures

Tue, 22 May 2007

By Jack Carfrae First Official Pictures 22 May 2007 10:19 Seat Altea Freetrack: the lowdown Seat has given the Altea some wellington boots to join the burgeoning ranks of wannabe soft-roader 4x4s. First seen in concept guise at the Geneva Motor Show back in March, the Altea Freetrack is Seat's first-ever attempt at an off-roader. However, an extra 40mm of ground clearance, some chunky tyres and aesthetically challenging grey cladding don’t necessarily mean that the Freetrack is going to beat a Defender to the top of the hill.

Bentley Continental GT Speed gets more power & Bentley Flying Spur gets V8

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

The 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed gets a makeover and more power Perhaps the arrival of the new Mercedes S-Class Coupe – especially as the S 63 AMG Coupe – has spurred Bentley on to make their cars a bit more special, but whatever the reason the 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed offers more power and more options than ever before. Power in the 6.0 litre V12 has been pushed up to 626bhp and 605lb/ft of torque which means top speed goes up to 206mph (203mph for the convertible), making the new GT Speed the fastest production Bentley ever. There are more tweaks under the skin too with a lowered chassis and stiffer suspension and cosmetic tweaks too with the front splitter, side skirts and  rear diffuser now painted in body colour, dark tinted 21″ alloys, headlights and tail lights, red brake callipers and a chrome ‘Speed’ badge on the front wing.
