Every manufacturer tests their products. It's part of the process. At KC HiLiTES however, our ideas spend a lot of time in the laboratory before a light is even prototyped. We try to view our ideas as our customers do from the original inception to the final inspection. Is there a need; how can we best fill the need; how bright a light; what color of light; what shape pattern is needed; which housing is best suited for the application? These are just a few of the issues that we address before we really get started prototyping a new lighting unit. We prefer to test them in the real world of high performance racing. Since way back in 1970, feedback from professional drivers has helped steer our designs in the right direction. This open dialog with racers and enthusiasts has helped us to continually refine our thinking, and it shows in the performance of our products. It's also safe to say that every KC HiLiTES product that makes its way to market has graduated with honors from the school of hard knocks. At KC HiLiTES, we didn't become the dominant force in auxiliary lighting overnight. In fact, we've been traveling down that road for over 35 years, paved or not. Over that time, we've designed, engineered and manufactured the most advanced auxiliary lighting available. In the process, we've also built a rock solid reputation for quality and performance. That's why more and more drivers ask for KC HiLiTES by name. As the original manufacturer of off road auxiliary lighting, KC HiLiTES not only set the standard for the category, we created it. And while our thinking has always evolved, look close and you'll see a bit of our pioneering spirit in every new KC HiLiTES product.

Truckers given the green light to drive faster

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

THERE'S good news for car drivers today as the government has officially increased the single-carriageway speed limit for heavy goods vehicles to 50mph. Previously, HGVs were limited to 40mph by law, leaving drivers' tempers to boil over in their cars while stuck in a long line of traffic. AA president Edmund King said: "This seems like a common sense move.

Subaru BRZ-STI concept

Wed, 02 Nov 2011

Subaru is poised to unveil the BRZ-STI concept at the at the LA auto show later this month. A concept version of the all-new rear-wheel drive compact sports car jointly developed with Toyota, the lightweight BRZ shares most of its mechanical components with the Toyota FT-86 concept, which made its first public appearance at the 2009 Tokyo motor show. A world away from Subaru's ‘Sports Car Architecture' concept that has made the rounds at the past few motor shows, the BRZ's design is remarkably similar to that of the FT-86.

Russian Grand Prix: Hamilton on pole for Mercedes

Sat, 11 Oct 2014

Hamilton (r) has pole in Russia followed by Rosberg (l) and Bottas (c) Amid tight security thanks to Russia’s ongoing spat in Ukraine, and a muted appetite for exuberance after Jules Bianchi’s dreadful crash with a JCB on track last weekend, the rest of the F1 circus seems to be on normal duty, with Hamilton’s Mercedes taking the front row and Hamilton dominating proceedings in qualifying to secure another pole position. But it wasn’t necessarily going all Mercedes’ way, with Bottas stringing together a very quick lap in the dying moments of final qualifying that looked like it could propel him in front of the Mercedes duo, until he lost traction at the end of his flying lap and had to settle for third spot in tomorrow’s race. Joining Bottas on row two is Jenson Button and his McLaren after a strong qualifying, and Daniil Kvyat – at his first home Grand Prix – managed to secure a very impressive fifth spot for Toro Rosso. Kevin Magnussen in the second McLaren would have been on row three in sixth spot but gets a five place penalty for a gearbox change.
