Autonomous emergency braking mandatory in Europe by 2014
Tue, 07 Aug 2012Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) is set to become mandatory as a result of new European regulations. From 2014 Euro NCAP – the organization responsible for conducting independent assessment of vehicle safety performance – will amend its reports and no car will gain a five-star rating without AEB. It's hoped an increased use of the system will cut down on front-end impacts as well as pedestrian injuries.

But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, despite the Gallardo’s demise at the end of 2013, Lamborghini managed to increase its turnover in 2013 to €508 million – up €39 million on 2012 – and break records for V12 sales in the process.

The F70's V12 can be heard, though there's no evidence of the rumored KERS-like hybrid system. Ferrari tells us to expect a sub-2,500-pound curb weight, and we're also hearing the 920-hp figure bandied about.
