Jaguar Academy of Sport signs up athletes galore

Jaguar Academy of Sport held the first of many ceremonies in London this week – and signed up 35 young British athletes with cheques and certificates to help develop their sporting talent.The academy was launched in March 2010 and is designed to nurture young British sporting talent by offering a bursary to athletes between the ages of 14-24. The Race the Runway event is an opportunity for car owners to blat their cars down the runway at Edinburgh Airport and generate cash for a worthy cause – the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow. Participants have to cough up a £300 donation to the charity to get the chance to see what their car can do, for which they get a free lunch as well as the thrill of flat-out driving on the runway, and can even bring a passenger along.
