New Lexus IS UK debut
Fri, 15 Mar 2013The 2013 Lexus IS – revealed at the Detroit Motor Show – gets its UK public debut at the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court. The Ideal Home Show may not seem the obvious place for Lexus to show the new IS, but Lexus are the headline motor sponsors for the event and you can’t argue with the footfall; footfall that is probably predominantly bang on the Lexus target demographic. And the target demographic for Lexus may be a bit surprised that the new IS is a chunk more dynamic looking than its predecessor, with statement looks – taking cues from the LF-CC Concept – that make the new IS a far more appealing prospect.
Range Rover Evoque Cosworth: the faster Evoque
Wed, 08 Dec 2010The new Range Rover Evoque is soon to rub shoulders with British tuning specialist Project Kahn. This teaser picture has surfaced online, suggesting a full-on makeover, showing off go-faster stripes and Cosworth branding to give the Evoque a sporty edge. Kahn is rumoured to be working on Ford's 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which has plenty of scope for tuning. The Blue Oval produces a maximum of 240bhp in its current applications. Alex Yeung of Kahn Designs confirmed the project to CAR.
RCA students redesign classic cars for Salon Privé
Mon, 17 Jun 2013Eleven postgraduates from the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design program have redesigned and modernized past Concours-winning cars for the ‘Concours of the Future' design exhibition at this year's Salon Privé in London. Concours of the Future, a first for the Salon Privé, will be showcased on 4 July before being judged the next day by a panel chaired by automotive designer and RCA visiting professor Peter Stevens. The judging panel is made up of Dale Harrow, head of the RCA Vehicle Design program and some of the biggest names in car design: Giles Taylor, director of design at Rolls-Royce; Peter Schreyer, chief design officer at Hyundai and Kia and Peter Horbury, vice president – design at Geely.
