Application - 1997-Current Y-Car
1997-Current Y-Car. Tool J-42164 is used to hold the drive pinion during drive pinion assembly/disassembly and to back up the pinion during bearing installation. This tool is also used to measure pinion rotating torque. Without the tool, pinion damage will occur. Use with tool J-42172 to loosen/tighten the drive pinion nut. Use with tool J-42170 to prevent damage to the drive pinion gear when installing the front and rear pinion bearings. Use with a torque wrench to measure the pinion rotating torque during reassembly to prevent damage to the ring and pinion.
