The camshafts must be held at TDC to properly set timing, especially once the inner timing chain is set. Both camshafts on each head must be held to time either head in turn. The camshafts on the left head must be held while timing the camshafts on the right head. During this procedure, the left head camshafts are under spring pressure, and can cause the cams to turn, leading to mis-timing the engine. On the left head, EN-48383-1 is installed to hold the cams, and timing is set per published service information. When the engine is at the second timing position to set the right head chain, EN-48383-2 is installed to hold the left head cams, and EN-48383-3 is installed on the right head cams. Both EN-48383-1 and EN-48383-2 are slotted to allow them to be installed over the SIDI drive portion of the camshaft in future applications. Mimicking the rest of the 4-series lineup, the 2014 4-series convertible will be offered in I-4 428i and straight-six 435i versions, each with a standard 8-speed automatic. Only the 428i will be available with BMW's xDrive AWD system at launch, however -- RWD is standard on both trim levels.

Value-Added New Focus Keeps Asking Price In Check
Tue, 02 Sep 2014WITH the launch of Ford’s new Focus just around the corner, the Blue Oval firm has announced that prices will start from £13,995 - the same as today’s Focus, with top Titanium and Titanium X versions costing £100 less than the outgoing equivalents. The new Focus range retains a six-series line-up of Studio (from £13,995), Style (£16,795), Zetec (£18,295), Zetec S (£20,045), Titanium (£19,795) and Titanium X (£21,795). According to Ford, the new Focus builds on its reputation for technology, which since 2011 has featured automated parallel parking, Active City Stop low-speed collision avoidance, Traffic Sign Recognition to monitor and record road signs and Blind Spot Information System, as optional equipment.
