This is the story of a second-gen Toyota Tercel wagon (known in Japan as the Sprinter Carib) and its journey from auction to lumber-hauler to kid transportation to a Chinese steel factory. Around the turn of the century, while I was working at a doomed dot-com in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, I discovered that the city auctioned off all the unclaimed tow-away cars every week at nearby Pier 70.

Registration is now open for the first event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Sat, 21 Aug 2010Rain-soaked Woodward Avenue welcomed thousands of cruisers and car enthusiasts for the 16th annual Dream Cruise on a wet Saturday just north of Detroit. Though the weather didn't cooperate for much of the day with rain ranging from a mist to steady showers, it failed to dampen the spirits of car fans for all over. As usual, Mustangs, Corvettes and Challengers took center stage on the iconic strip, which plays host to the yearly summer celebration of chrome and fins.
