Car April Fools Stuff – to Infiniti & Beyond

Fri, 02 Apr 2010

BMW release PRAT roundels for the UK General Election There were so many April Fools stories running around yesterday from car makers we really didn’t want to spend the day regurgitating press releases designed to demonstrate car makers’ normally well-hidden sense of humour. But some were well-conceived so we thought we should bring you a few, just so you know what went on. BMW in the UK decided to be topical and issued a press release telling is they were offering their Political Roundel Attachment Tag, which would offer the BMW Roundel in colours to suit owners’ political persuasion in the run-up to the General Election.

New Lotus Elite: Top-Down +video

Wed, 13 Oct 2010

New Lotus Elite (2014) Top Down I think we’ve just about got over the surprise of a New Lotus Elite dropping from a clear blue sky in the week before the Paris Motor Show. What we still haven’t completely got our heads around is the plethora of models subsequently revealed at the show itself. Yes, we were expecting the new Lotus Esprit – even if we reckoned we might have got that wrong after the New Elite showed up – but we hadn’t reckoned on the new Elan, the new Eterne and the new Elise as well (never mind a City Car concept).

Hungarian Grand Prix (2010) RESULT

Mon, 02 Aug 2010

Hungary F1 2010 Back to back with the German Grand Prix, the Hungarian Grand Prix looked like it would be a backward step for the McLarens, with Hamilton wringing the neck of his McLaren (the one Ron Dennis says he can’t complain about – but should) to get a poor grid position and Button languishing back in 11th after failing to even reach the final qualifying. The race didn’t get any better for McLaren either. They came to Hungary hoping the flexi-wing employed by Red Bull and Ferrari – which is said to be good for a second a lap – would be banned.
