Last week the world got a glimpse of Ukrainian ex-president Viktor Yanukovych's surprisingly eclectic car collection, which included dozens of cars that have never been exhibited in any museum or classic car show outside the former USSR. The sprawling garage at the Mezhyhirya villa became public only last weekend, hours after Yanukovych's nighttime escape by helicopter to Russia. More than 800 cars apply for Monterey Motorsports Reunion

The 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Cobra, and more than 800 applications for participation have been received. There will be 17 race groups at the track Aug. 17-19, but participation is limited to 550 cars.
