Design Review: Bertone Birusa concept
Tue, 04 Mar 2003The new Birusa concept unveiled today shows Bertone returning to what they do best - a flamboyant showcar giving us a vision of how the high performance GT car (front engine, rear drive, two seats) could evolve stylistically in the near future. Based on a BMW Z8 aluminium chassis lengthened by 300mm, it's a refreshing piece of exuberance by the Italian company and a celebration of what they achieved in the 1960s and 70s. The wedge-shaped profile is characterised by a classic Bertone device - a dihedral-shaped side window with an undercut lower glass section, as featured on showcars such as the Boomerang and Carrabo.
VW Tiguan Review – Johnny wins heat 2
Wed, 05 Aug 2009The white VW Tiguan tested by heat 2 winner Johnny Heat 2 seems to have been hard-fought, with the competitors using social media to get votes in. Di and Johnny, two of the most competitive of the Volkswagen Tiguan People’s Reviewers, pulled out all the stops last week, using their social networks of friends and followers to get out the vote. In the end, Johnny claimed the Group 2 crown, pulling out a victory in a back-and-forth race.
Renault Twingo and Clio Grand Tour
Thu, 08 Mar 2007By Ben Whitworth Motor Shows 08 March 2007 10:12 French but sans le funky look A busy show stand for Renault – as well as unveiling its new Twingo city car, the French manufacturer pulled the wraps off a thinly disguised version of its upcoming Clio estate to take on its Fabia and Peugeot 207 wagon rivals. After the funked up coolness of the Twingo concept car shown at the Paris Motor Show last year, we are more than a little underwhelmed by the production Twingo. Renault is keen to move away from the utilitarian look and feel of the original model – it will leave cheap and cheerful sales to the Clio Campus – and pitch the new model at sharper-suited rivals like the Mini.
