Sadly, the extra oomph was reserved for the US. Today’s news, however, applies to Volvos on both sides of the Pond, with a new top-end S80 being revealed – the Volvo S80 Executive – and a butch take on the V70 – the Volvo V70 R-Design.
McLaren 12C Spider sells out in 2 hours at Neiman Marcus
Fri, 26 Oct 2012The Christmas car for 2012 from US retailer Neimann Marcus – the new McLaren 12C Spider – sold out in just two hours. And it didn’t take long for the 12C Spider to sell out when it went on sale this week, with all 12 cars snapped up in just two hours – all $4.25 million dollars worth. Neiman Marcus were offering their 12C Spiders at a premium of $85k over McLaren’s US list price for the 12C Spider of $269k, but they were throwing in flights to the UK to have dinner with McLaren’s Ron Dennis and a set of custom luggage.
Why Ford’s Euro design is changing: Joel Piaskowski replaces Martin Smith
Wed, 28 May 2014By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 28 May 2014 14:30 Ford today confirmed that it is shaking up its European design team, as it appoints Joel Piaskowski to replace the retiring Martin Smith. Smith, 64, has led Ford of Europe’s design team for a decade and is the father of the brand’s edgy ‘kinetic design’, but will step down on 1 July 2014, it was announced this afternoon. Before he retires fully at the end of the year Smith will work with the Blue Oval’s vice president of design, Moray Callum, on a global project looking at the future of Ford design.
