*KING KONG* 76 mm/ P-Trim T-Series Twin Scroll Big Shaft Turbocharger For engine builds that require a solid 1100 HP race-prepped turbocharger are destined to look no further than this twin scroll 'King Kong' 76 mm turbocharger. This is a fairly compact T-Series turbocharger with a large diameter turbine shaft and fully blueprinted CHRA. This turbocharger configuration is a well-known combination that can be trusted to deliver monstrous airflow day-in and day-out. With the included v-band outlet on the exhaust housing, downpipe fitment is a cinch. The compact dimensions of the housings and bearing cartridge afford fitment almost anywhere you need to place a turbocharger. Great for engines that don't have quite enough room for two turbochargers, unless of course you need two turbos to supply your 2200 HP fire-breathing mill. The King Kong starts off as a specially blueprinted Garrett large shaft cartridge that has modified full OD oil-supply bearings, polished turbine shaft surfaces, and improved thrust plate oiling. This has been an effective trio of modifications that not only reduce turbo spool time, but keeps oil where it should be under extreme boost pressures and loads. All of these tweaks ensure class-leading durability at high pressure ratios, and low-friction movement of the rotor group. Taking center stage in the critical CHRA buildup is an authentic Garrett Inconel P-Trim turbine wheel. This shaft features premier aerodynamic blade forms and an improved oil seal design. As expected, the blade material is high-grade 718 alloy for ultimate thermodynamic stability and strength. Additionally, the turbine shaft has a staggered-gap piston seal design that vastly improves oil retention within the bearing housing, while further limiting the possibility of oil entering the turbine housing itself. Yet another improvement made to the CHRA design we feel is vital to durability in service, is the inclusion of a full 360' thrust plate and matching stainless steel collars. These are the best CHRA components for handling the thrust loads associated with the huge 76 mm compressor wheel. The modifications to the bearings reduce the thermal load on the turbine shaft by increasing the oil supply throughout the CHRA. A sweet bonus is the quicker spool-up because of the reduction in friction. A win, win, win scenario to be sure. Complementing our race-level preparation of the cartridge are a combination of modified compressor and exhaust housings. The specifically selected turbine housing has an A/R of 1.00 and features a twin-scroll architecture for maximum volume high-horsepower exhaust flow through the turbine wheel. The housing inlet has a compact T4 flange pattern with port-matched inlet for a smooth transition from the (included) gasket openings. Even the outlet has a radiused exit to reduce turbulence and improve turbine efficiency. We spend a couple of hours porting the the entry and outlet to maximize exhaust flow and velocity peak performance and minimize turbo lag. Of course, the carbide burrs aren't put to rest until the compressor housing is worked over to boost its airflow capacity and efficiency as well. The real-world benefits of all this portwork (and blueprinting) are not only an overall 10% improvement in airflow, but a reduction in time to full spool by an impressive 400 RPMs! The King Kong really is a fearsome animal of a turbocharger. Ready to show off its supremacy in making power in the 20+ psi boost range. Not to be considered just a brute, we have included a couple of well spent hours making the King Kong photogenic. After more than 2 hours of sanding we polish the compressor housing for a stunning presentation. We know this is a beast, but why not put him on display and show him off a bit? At least until he breaks free that is. Then everyone just starts running. King Kong twin scroll, truly a beast of a T4 turbocharger. . . **Included Features** - Blueprinted CHRA (race level prep.) - Modified 360' high-capacity thrust components - Staggered gap turbine shaft piston oil seal - Ported exhaust and compressor housings - Fully polished compressor housing - Twin scroll turbine housing - 3" V-Band exhaust housing outlet |

Saab owners Spyker NV to become Swedish Automobile NV
Mon, 23 May 2011Is the rain coming to an end at Saab? In the seemingly never-ending saga of Spyker and Saab it does now seem likely that the deal we reported last week with Chinese distributors Pang Da is going to pan out. The messy-looking deal with Pang Da has seen the beleaguered Dutch car maker receiving €30 million already from the cash-rich Chinese, which it’s using to pay-off its suppliers in an attempt to get production lines rolling again in Trollhattan.
