Toyota Prius points the way to design future
Mon, 18 May 2009For a glimpse of Toyota's future design trends, check out the Prius. The third generation, debuting Monday in Japan, stays true to the line's role as a vanguard of futuristic styling and sports many new elements that will be popping up soon in other models. The goal was to create an avant-garde, high-tech look that also screams green.
Autoweek in review: What you may have missed
Fri, 12 Apr 2013Rain fell all week at One Autoweek Tower, and the breaking news didn't let up, either. Things started out busy enough on Monday with Bugatti losing its top-speed record and the trailer of Ron Howard's new film, “Rush,” hitting the Web. On Tuesday we paid homage to Distracted Driving month by recounting the touching story of a Kansas State Trooper who has witnessed a variety of tragic scenes -- many resulting from distracted driving.
The Mitsubishi Evo is dead
Mon, 31 Mar 2014As Mitsubishi shifts its global lineup toward utility vehicles and electrified cars, it will pull the plug on the Lancer Evolution at the end of the nameplate's current generation. “Mitsubishi Motors does not have any plans to design a successor with the current concept, as a high-performance four-wheel drive gasoline-powered sedan,” spokeswoman Namie Koketsu said, describing the car as having “icon” status. “Mitsubishi Motors will explore the possibilities of high-performance models that incorporate electric vehicle technology.” Dropping the Evo was foreshadowed last fall when President Osamu Masuko unveiled a new mid-term business plan that would deprioritize in-house sedans and explore sourcing them through joint projects with the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
