Here's what Klock Werks has to say about them;

The original, patented, FLARE Windshield was developed at Klock Werks out of a desire/need for stability at highway speeds and for racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The FLARE is the ORIGINAL windshield of its kind, and has surprised riders everywhere with not only how great it looks, but also with how well it performs. The innovative design features "hips" at the outer edge of the shield that re-route the air to add downforce to the front of the bike, which aids stability vs. using the stock shield. The "flip" at the top of the FLARE is designed to kick the air up and then allow it to flow back as "clean", less turbulent air for the rider.

  • Fits 96-13 FLHT, FLHTC, FLHX, FLHTK and H-D FL Trike models - pre-drilled for easy mounting using stock hardware (some 6.5" options available for older style, see part numbers below)
  • In most cases, we recommend that you choose a height that you can comfortably look over instead of one you would have to look through.
  • There are a few touring models (tallest sizes) that are ok to look through if that’s what you want or need, but all the other sizes are designed to be used if you can comfortably look over them.
  • Klock Werks Flare Windshields are measured from the center bolt hole to the start of the flip on the top of the windshield.
  • 3.5" height is designed for riders accustomed to a shorter windscreen.
  • 6.5" height was the first style created for batwing style fairings. Works great for average height riders. Does not work with 3 pouch windshield bags
  • 8.5" height blends sporty style of 6.5" with taller touring height of 11.5". Better for tallers riders, and works with 3 pouch windshield bags/GPS.
  • 11.5" is our tallest model. Comparable in height to a stock Electra Glide/Ultra windshield. More full coverage version for riders that prefer that, yet maintains downforce and features of the FLARE
  • REMEMBER - a shorter FLARE will still perform better than a stock windshield that is even 2" taller because of its design and the way it routes the air.
  • Lexan® Polycarbonate with FMR hard coating is used to create these custom-molded designs with unmatched durability.
  • Wind tunnel designed and tested, the “hips” provide added downforce while the “flip” directs air over the rider to help eliminate the swirl of air found in front of the rider on standard windshields.
  • The black, chrome, and black chrome windshields are completely opaque, you cannot see through them.
  • Made in the U.S.A.
  • Clean with soap and water. Can follow up with polish such as Novus or Plexus. Do not use petroleum based or amonia based cleaners including rain sheeting products!

How will you get to work in the year 2030?

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

Imagine a future where New Jersey adopts mass public transit and on-demand jitneys; Boston becomes hyper-dense and walking becomes the primary means of transport; Atlanta disperses even further and relies on solar power, electric cars and Google connected technologies to manage mobility; and Los Angeles tries autonomous cars, but finds the transition difficult, and its gridlock even worse. These are the scenarios proposed in a new study by New York University's Rudin Center for Transport Policy and Management. The report, which proposes scenarios rather than making predictions about the future of transportation in the US, repeatedly points to connected car technologies, autonomous cars and logistics networks as driving forces in regional mobility solutions.

Sun, 26 May 2013

The two Mercedes out front at the start of the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix With a Mercedes front row – and Rosberg on pole – can Mercedes finally turn their stunning qualifying in to a stunning result in Monaco? The two Mercedes out front at the start of the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix Monaco can often be a bit of a procession, with limited opportunities to pass, and the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix was no different. But it was so interspersed with accident and incident that it sidelined the boring bits to irrelevance and made for a cracking spectacle, a spectacle that ended, where it started, with Nico Rosberg taking a Mercedes win in his home Grand Prix.
