Fri, 01 Jun 2007First year Vehicle Design students at the Royal College of Art were given a brief to develop a car that would achieve universal individual mobility for people of all ages living in rural environments. Using intelligent systems technology, new materials and means, and retaining high standards of sustainability, the students were asked: what are the vehicles for tomorrow's countryside? Five different groups consisting of three students devised several very different proposals to answer this question.
Tribute to Briton killed in crash
Tue, 15 Oct 2013THE GOVERNING BODY for UK motor sports has paid tribute to a "hugely promising" young British driver killed in a crash. Sean Edwards was a passenger in a Porsche when it reportedly hit the barriers at Queensland Raceway in Willowbank, west of Brisbane, Australia, during a private test session. The driver, a 20-year-old man from Brisbane, was pulled from the burning wreckage and is in intensive care with life-threatening injuries.

Thu, 10 Feb 2011BMW 1-Series Electric - BMW ActiveE It’s been a while since we first saw the BMW ActiveE, the BMW 1-Series with the gubbins from the MINI E bolted under the bonnet (and various other places) and intended as the next instalment in BMW’s plans to charge its customers to do real-world development and research. In fact, the electric BMW 1-Series first crossed our radar in December 2009 and went on to be shown as a concept at the Detroit Motor Show a month later. And now it’s back at the Geneva Motor Show in March, only now it’s production-ready.
