Fourth annual World Automotive Design Competition winners announced

The fourth annual World Automotive Design Competition was hosted by the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Ontario, on February 17. Students were asked to design a world car that has universal appeal. Christophe Charbault, a design student from the Ecole de design at the Universite de Montreal, won the first prize of US $10,000.

Smoking in cars to be banned

MPs in the House of Commons have voted in favour of amendment to the Children and Families Bill, thereby recommending a ban on smoking in cars when there are children present in England. The vote does not force the government to bring such a change into law, but has passed with a substantial majority and the recommendation is seen to have substantial public support. New Volkswagen Golf Match arrives to replace the Golf SE

The new VW Golf Match (pictured) replaces the old Golf SE The new MK 7 Volkswagen Golf went on sale in the UK at the end of 2012, but VW are already tinkering with the lineup with the arrival of the new Volkswagen Golf Match, replacing the current Golf SE. Priced from £19,680 for the Golf Match 1.4 litre three-door, the new Match comes with a set of 16″ Dover alloys, but it’s the extra kit for no extra money that makes the new Match appealing. Additional equipment on the Match includes front and rear parking sensors, fogs, mirror pack with automatically folding door mirrors with puddle lights and reverse dip.
