Honda Civic (2011) at Frankfurt motor show
Mon, 12 Sep 2011This is the ninth generation of Honda’s small car star, which has gestated from trend setting (Civic Mk1 of 1972) to stylistically dull if technically advanced (most) to sci-fi-style wacko but technically mainstream (Civic Mk8). New Civics, over the years, have been about as easy to forecast as David Beckham’s next hairstyle as Honda engineers – never the most predictable bunch – veer from brave to bashful. The new Civic, unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, is eye-catching although less off-centre than generation eight, and is closed basely mechanically on its predecessor.

And now, with the Discovery 4 nearing the end of its life, Land Rover is commemorating that anniversary with a special edition model – the Land Rover Discovery XXV Special Edition. The Discovery XXV is based on Land Rover’s top spec Disco – the HSE Luxury – and comes in a choice of four colours - Causeway Grey, Santorini Black, Fuji White and Indus Silver – with Narvik Black for the grill surround and door mirrors and Dark Atlas on the grill and vents.
Lamborghini shifts R&D focus from more horses to fewer pounds

So from here on, performance gains will come from using lighter materials to reduce vehicle weight, instead of from chasing more engine thrust. "It has come to the point where acceleration equals consumption," said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of the Italian automaker.
