This is a set of 8 red leather Ski straps
For the accessory Leitz roof mounted luggage rack

An accessory fitted to PORSCHE 911 & 912 cars
  • 8 straps, used for 2 sets of skis & poles
  • Hand made in the USA
  • Copied from an original set (please see photos 3,4 & 5 for comparison)
  • Upgraded with better leather (see photo 6 for comparison)
Please note the telltale silver/gray leather on the edges. Same as the original straps. This is a specially tanned leather hide using a process that stabilizes the leather by cross linking the collagen fibers and tightly binds to the protein in the hide. Makes the leather stronger. This is the only type of leather strong enough to be used to actually hold a set of skis to the rack. Regular leather will crack and break.
  • Upgraded with a much nicer quality nickel plated buckle (see photo 2,3)
Same style as the original which was a  flimsy and poorly made zinc plated buckle (see photo 3 & 4 for comparison)

Richard Petty Driving Experience says you can skip the clutch pedal

Tue, 30 Aug 2011

With manual transmissions being phased out of everything from Fords to Ferraris, it's no surprise that beginning on Thursday, the Richard Petty Driving Experience will no longer require the use of a clutch pedal to learn how to drive a stock car. With the company's "Can't Drive a Manual? No Problem" campaign, the driving school will allow students to get behind the wheel of a stocker and be push-started so no shifting will be required.

Ford Fiesta deliveries delayed, storm-damaged rail lines blamed

Ford Motor Co.'s shipments of the 2011 Ford Fiesta subcompact to U.S. dealerships will be delayed by 10 days to two weeks because of storm-damaged railroad lines. Key railroads in northern Mexico were severely damaged by Hurricane Alex on June 30 and later by Tropical Storm Bonnie, said Angie Kozleski, a Ford spokeswoman.

BMW i3 spied

Wed, 09 Mar 2011

BMW i3 caught playing in the snow. Just a few weeks on from the launch of BMW’s new “i” sub-brand, and we have the first spy photo of the BMW i3 out and about in the Scandinavian snow. It seems BMW were busy filming this quite heavily camouflaged i3 for BMW TV when it was snapped, so it seems likely we may be seeing some video soon.
