Remote areas may get fuel duty cut

REMOTE RURAL areas in Scotland, North Yorkshire and Devon could benefit from a 5p-per-litre fuel duty cut, under plans put forward by ministers. The Government has applied to the European Commission to vary the duty rates in 10 towns across Britain. Discounts have never been permitted on the mainland before, although they are already in place for the Scottish islands, Isles of Scilly and other island communities in Europe.

Apple reveals CarPlay at Geneva 2014

Apple has announced it will reveal its new in-car iPhone system at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this week. CarPlay is integrated into the car’s infotainment system and uses Siri to receive voice commands from the driver – such as playing music, dictating text messages or making phone calls. The Land Rover Freelander 2 in the JLR assembly plant in Pune, India We reported last year that Land Rover were going to start building Freelanders in India this year. Well, bolting them together from CKD (Complete Knock Down) imported from Halewood, anyway. And, bang on target, Land Rover has had a bit of an event at Pune to celebrate the opening of their new assembly plant.
