LED-IN Lights Car Parking Guidance System This home parking alignment DIY kit uses LED light strips to guide you when parking your vehicle straight into a confined space. It is for use with motor-driven overhead type garage doors. This kit includes DIY installation instructions, parts list, alignment instructions, a drawing and pre-assembled components of LED-IN Lights Car Parking.
This is a visual alignment system similar to those used at major airports to guide pilots of airliners to their terminal gate parking position. Alignment of the aircraft at the gate is critical for the passenger air bridge to fit correctly and for positioning of support equipment around the aircraft. This DIY home garage car parking system uses Green and Red colored LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) light strips to guide your car from outside your garage straight into it's parking spot by you using small turn corrections as required to keep the Green LED light strip between the two Red LED light strips. The Green and Red LED light strips are powered by 110 VAC electricity through a Power Converter to 12 VDC. The source of the 110 VAC is from the light bulb socket at your garage door motor. This light normally comes on whenever the garage door is opened, then turns off after a few minutes. For accurate Stop positioning, you can just put a mark or tape across the Red LED light strips and a corresponding one on the Green LED light strip. When the marks meet, STOP.
There are STOP position systems available which use technologies such as: lasers, infrared, radar, ultrasonic, parking mats, bump pads and tire stop curbs. However, a tennis ball suspended from the ceiling which touches your windshield at the stop position is a good fail-safe method. It is even easy to rig the tennis ball string through eyelets to the garage door itself which will retract the ball out of the way when the garage door is closed. The tennis ball will drop back down to it's original position the next time the garage door is opened. This item is an additional $2.95. If you would like to add the “tennis ball on a string”, please pay for this additional order item at check out. |

Toyota to sell tens of thousands of fuel cell cars a year by 2020
Wed, 07 Mar 2012Toyota FCV-R Hydrogen Fuel Cell Toyota is pushing ahead with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and plans to be selling tens of thousands a year by 2012, starting with the Toyota FCV-R Toyota may have brought yet another hybrid concept to Geneva, and may we have moaned again about their obsession with flogging hybrid cars. But we can’t argue they haven’t made a success of turning car buyers on to hybrid cars, however futile a long-term route we may think it is. But it seems Toyota do agree with us on electric cars with no plans to throw their weight behind the EV in a big way, but they are gearing up to try and do with hydrogen fuel cell cars what they’ve done with hybrid cars, and are expecting to be selling tens of thousands of fuel cell powered cars a year by 2020.
One Lap of the Web: Jaguar F-Type, Baja 1000 and how the Mustang became Boss
Fri, 12 Apr 2013We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- Silodrome reminds us of a 1995 documentary called "Dust to Glory" on the Baja 1000 desert race.
