Why aren’t Porsche 911 GT3 owners in the UK being compensated?
Mon, 28 Apr 2014UK owners of the 911 GT3 aren’t getting compensation It does seem reasonable that if you buy a car you subsequently can’t use because of a design flaw, that the car maker pays you compensation for loss of use. So when Porsche ordered owners of the 911 GT3 to stop using their cars after a fire risk was revealed thanks to a faulty connector, it seemed certain owners would be in for some payback from Porsche. But despite offering US owners of the GT3 $2,000 a month for loss of use, up to $4,000 a month for those in the Middle East and €175 a day for German owners, UK owners of the GT3 aren’t getting a penny.
Ireland preparing to ban smoking in cars
Thu, 28 Jul 2011Ireland prepare to ban smoking in cars Maybe the erosion of individual liberties should be secondary to safety (although we would argue the contrary), but surely banning smoking in cars – as Ireland appear close to doing – is a very silly route to go? Of course, since anything that can be remotely construed as a company car is already somewhere you’re not allowed to smoke, banning smoking in private cars is, perhaps, a logical step. The argument is that smoking in cars is detrimental to the health of children who are passengers.
Lamborghini Urus: Twin Turbo V8 & 2000kg
Tue, 15 May 2012Lamborghini Urus to get twin turbo V8 Lamborghini’s R&D Directror, Maurizio Reggiani, says the Lamborghini Urus will use a twin turbo V8 and weigh only 2,000kg. The Lamborghini Urus – Lambo’s new SUV offering – took the stage at the Geneva Motor Show in March and, although it received mixed reviews, is certainly heading for production. But the SUV we saw at Geneva is a long way of the real deal; nothing more than a shell to give the world a peek of how the Urus will look.
