Nearly half of male drivers admit to sleeping at the wheel

Road safety charity Brake and insurance company Direct Line found that 31% of all drivers admit to ‘head-nodding’ at the wheel – meaning they’ve fallen asleep while driving a car for between two and 30 seconds. Earlier this week, at the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd) HQ in London, Transport Minister Jim Fitzpatrick unveiled the Department of Transport’s online ‘Best on CO2’ car rankings. The new website - www.dft.gov.uk/ActOnCO2 - lists all the cars on sale.
