Honda speeds up major changes to the Civic

Honda will bring out a significant mid-cycle change to its embattled Civic compact this fall, just 18 months after it launched, a high-ranking executive told dealers here. The move is a rush to improve the Civic in time for the 2013 model year. The Civic's cheapened interior and other reductions in content got a critical reviews from The Wall Street Journal, and Consumer Reports removed the model from its recommended list.

VW will build small run of XL1 plug-in hybrid

Volkswagen will begin production of its XL1 plug-in hybrid in two years. "We want to go into series production with this car starting in 2013," VW chairman Ferdinand Piech told Automotive News Europe on Tuesday at an event in Doha, Qatar, ahead of the 2011 Qatar auto show where VW unveiled an XL1 prototype. Maserati celebrates birthday with GranTurismo MC Centennial Editions

Maserati unveiled the GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition at the New York auto show this week, following up the successful debut of the Alfieri concept a month ago at the Geneva motor show. The GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition, created as part of Maserati's 100th anniversary celebrations this year, will be available both in coupe and convertible form. The Maserati GranTurismo MC Centennial Edition coupe and convertible will be powered by the same 4.7-liter V8 engine found in the MC Stradale, on which the Centennial is based.
