Vehicles recalled amid airbags fear

JAPANESE car giants Honda, Mazda and Nissan are recalling millions of vehicles worldwide amid fears that a defect in airbags manufactured by supplier Takata Corp could cause them to explode. No accidents have been reported. Honda recalled 2.03 million vehicles over the airbag problem, including 1.02 million vehicles in North America and nearly 669,000 in Japan.

Volkswagen CrossPolo At the recent Motor Show in Essen, Germany, Volkswagen showed their new CrossPolo. It is an adaptation of the existing car that seeks to extend the range's popularity in Europe, adding extra cladding around the car's ankles. Like the Audi A6 Allroad, it also features (matt) brightwork for the roof rack and door-mirrors, while the central parts of the front and rear graphics are also lightened for contrast against the grey bumpers.

£1,000 reward to shop drink drivers

CASH REWARDS of up to £1,000 are being offered to Christmas and New Year revellers who report drink-drivers to the police. Derbyshire Constabulary and West Midlands Police are promoting the rewards to help catch drivers who are over the alcohol limit or under the influence of drugs. Running until New Year's Day, the scheme will see posters placed in pubs and clubs urging drinkers to report those flouting the law to the Crimestoppers hotline.
