Chris Evans buys Dunlop Bridge from Donington
Mon, 17 Sep 2012Radio 2 DJ and Ferrari nut Chris Evans has bought the Dunlop Bridge from Donington Park in a charity auction. When Chris Evans goes to an auction, he usually comes back with a trophy car from Maranello, such as the James Coburn Ferrari 250 GT SWB (or the Ferrari 250 GTO he bought privately through RM Auctions). This time, the Ginger one has been busy buying the sort of motoring ephemera that only a man with a big back garden could afford to find a home for – the iconic Dunlop Bridge from Donington Park.
London Motorexpo competition shows future EVs
Fri, 08 Jun 2012London's 2012 Motorexpo show has showcased the work of the winners in its competition to design an electric vehicle of the future. The brief, to create a circa 2032 zero-emmission city car capable of transporting four adults and luggage, was won by Michael Vlcek, a first-year student at London's Royal College of Arts' (RCA) Vehicle Design department. Vehicles of the future Vlcek's proposal displayed a car with electric motors mounted in the wheel housings to maximise interior space, and a front-hinged opening to allow access via the rear of the car, where Vlcek positioned the rear lights on vertical vanes to improve aerodynamic stability.
Two million drivers risk insurance fraud
Wed, 21 May 2014MORE THAN 2 million drivers in the UK could be at risk of committing insurance fraud by claiming they are the main driver on a policy when someone else uses the car. As many as 6% of the UK’s drivers are risking invalidating their insurance by letting someone else drive the car for most of the time despite claiming they are the principal driver. Known as ‘fronting’, this kind of insurance fraud is common among parents helping their children to get cheaper car insurance.
