Get your crewmember back onboard fast! Lifesling2 is Coast Guard approved and works better than a ring or horseshoe buoy because:

  • It can be towed to the overboard crewmember rather than the crewmember having to swim to it—this eliminates the danger of the crewmember coming in contact with the hull and propeller
  • It can be used as a lifting sling if the crewmember needs help out of the water

The Lifesling2 system consists of a flotation collar which is a blend of the traditional horseshoe buoy and a helicopter rescue sling. It’s connected to 125' of multi-filament polypropylene retrieving line which allows the flotation to be towed or thrown to the overboard crewmember. The collar and line are stored for protection against the elements in a new more rigid and attractive vinyl storage bag. Graphics on the bag illustrate the instructions for recovering a person in the water.

Note: This USCG-approved Lifesling2 is for powerboats with a lifting point 10' above the water, and sailboats over 20' LOA.

  • USCG Type: Type V which substitutes for a Type IV
  • Configuration: Horseshoe Buoy/flotation collar
  • Buoyancy: 21 lb.
  • Material: UL-approved foam, line, webbing
  • Dimensions: 22"H x 12.5"W x 5"D
  • Color: White storage bag; yellow Lifesling
  • Mounting/Storage Provisions: Storage bag, (Rigid case available, sold separately)

Maserati Ghibli teased ahead of Shanghai Motor Show debut

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

Maserati appear to be teasing the arrival of the smaller Quattroporte – the Maserati Ghibli – at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month. Maserati is on a bit of a new model rush at the moment, and it looks like the tease photo they’ve released today is for the new Maserati Ghibli. The Maserati Ghibli isn’t going to be a sporty coupe – as you might reasonably expect – but a cut-down version of the new Quattroporte, designed to take on the performance versions of Europe’s executive express cars – think BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E Class and Jaguar XF.

The new McLaren 650S Coupe (pictured) officially revealed After an initial tease last week, we had the first official photos of the new McLaren 650s yesterday which has prompted McLaren to do the right thing and officially reveal the new 650S today. Just as we’ve already reported, the 650S is a more focused 12C with front end styling that takes its lead from the McLaren P1, more power – up from 616bhp in the 12C to 641bhp (650PS) – and more focus on driver engagement. That new P1 front end new LED headlights mark the 650S out from the 12C, with a more integrated front splitter increasing downforce and door blades behind the front wheels directing air from the trailing edges of the splitter for better front end grip.
