The new Jaguar Lightweight E-type, unveiled today in Pebble Beach, Monterey, is the result: a stunning retro classic reimagined in painstaking period detail for 2014. Built by Jaguar Land Rover’s new Special Operations division at a new facility in old Browns Lane, the Lightweight E-type is also a shot across the bows of specialists such as Eagle, who have been making hay creating modern-day E’s.
Volkswagen Opens Order Book For Electric Golf

Like with its city car, Volkswagen is adopting the policy of using a conventional car as the basis for its electric power Golf. The German car maker is claiming a range of 118 miles after a full charge, while top speed is an acceptable 87mph and the zero to 62mph sprint takes a brisk 10.4 seconds.
Mercedes signs joint venture to build carbonfibre parts
Mon, 24 Jan 2011Not to be outdone by BMW’s joint venture with the SGL Group to manufacturer commercially viable carbonfibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the electric Megacity Vehicle, Mercedes has announced a joint venture with Japanese company Toray Industries to manufacturer and market its on CFRP automotive parts. The deal was signed in Germany today, with Toray taking a 50.1% stake, Daimler holding 44.9% and the remaining 5% being taken by other shareholders. The two companies started working together in March 2010, and while Toray has been working on the materials and moulding processes, Merc has designed the automotive parts and the technologies to join the parts together.
