Tesla’s design boss, Franz von Holzhausen, says the BMW i3 is an IKEA car We’ve long been of the opinion that electric cars, certainly with the current levels of battery technology, can never be a replacement for an ICE car. But we do have soft spot for what Tesla are doing. That’s because Tesla has tackled the issues of electric cars in  the cleverest way possible by building a car (the Model S) that looks like a normal luxury car – rather than making it look odd or quirky just to ram home its difference – and made it travel a sensible distance on a single charge.

Volkswagen T-ROC concept debuts at Geneva Motor show

As promised, Volkswagen brought the pint-sized T-ROC concept to the Geneva Motor Show this week. Intended to be positioned below the Taigun compact SUV (not to be confused with the Tiguan) the T-ROC sits on the Golf platform known internally as MQB. But the T-ROC is actually shorter than the Golf, at 164.5 inches in length, owing to short overhangs.

Hospital staff face 'extortionate' parking charges

HOSPITAL bosses have been branded immoral for introducing "extortionate" parking charges for staff who need their cars for work. The union Unite said England should come in line with Scotland and Wales where NHS staff were not made to pay to park. The union was responding to South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust's decision last month to start charging health visitors and community nurses £1.20 an hour to park.
