M5
1936-1939 E, EL
This will fit
1936-1939, but this version has me totally
stumped. This body has to be one of the earliest
known M5 carbs and would have to have been made in
1935. This is a 2 bolt air cleaner body -" 2-338",
hand stamped "3"( NOT 4 ), and only
has the 2 drill plugs, no soldered in plugs. It
also has the extremely thick "boss" on the bowl
stem as seen on the M2,M21, & M31 2 bolt
carbs, but this one is definitely an honest
M5 2 bolt body, as that was the only 2
bolt body with a machined & pinned surface for an OHV
bowl. All other Linkert & Beck bodies with 2
bolt flanges , except M5 & late M31 castings,
did not even have the casting for the OHV bowl and
were just round in that area. , and only the
M5 had a machined & pinned surface for an OHV bowl. Would have been for one of the very, very first Knuckleheads. A very,
very rare & unusual carb, possibly one
of a kind. May even be an experimental M5 carb.
Definitely the earliest OHV carb body I have
owned since 1965.
This has a 7-64 plated brass bowl, plated brass bowl
nut, plated brass choke disc, early high &
low speed needles, OEM plated throttle lever, and even an original brass venturi ! Excellent condition, only major touch up to the carb was machining a light ding out of the top of the bowl lip ( gone, totally ). All else is a normal rebuild - rubber ducky, new float lever, plated pivot pins, plated steel tip needle & seat, plated plugs, etc. #459
ALL of our rebuilt Linkert & Schebler DLX carburetors carry a 90 day warranty.
And
ALWAYS -especially with these early rides, go by your manual,
shut off your gas when you are not running your bike.

Chevy Volt production stopped as sales falter
Sat, 03 Mar 2012Chevy Volt production halted General Motors has announced that they’re halting production of the range-extender Chevrolet Volt as sales falter. The Chevy Volt is General Motors’ car of the future (and sister car to the Vauxhall Ampera) with a range extender engine and the ability to run on a plug-in charge. And GM proclaimed it as the future of the company and did everything they could to keep costs in check.
