Jaguar XFR (2009) tops 225mph at Bonneville
Tue, 13 Jan 2009By Sarah-Jayne Harrison Motor Industry 13 January 2009 16:00 Jaguar's new XFR has reached 225.675mph, making it the fastest car Coventry has ever produced. Running at a secret test at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the one-off prototype, using a tweaked version of Jaguar's new supercharged 5.0-litre V8, topped even the legendary XJ220's 217mph top speed. Not a chance.
Is this supercharged V8 destined for the Corvette ZR1?
Tue, 08 Oct 2013This is a big week for spy shots, and apparently a friend of a friend of a “friend” snapped this little ditty of what could be the motor of the next Z06, or ZR1. Corvette Online nabbed the shot of a supercharged LT1-looking V8 mill; they cite the injector cover shape and the throttle body. The site also noted the twin-rotor supercharger with an LSA/LS9-style pulley on the front.
Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid: the leaked photos
Tue, 09 Sep 2008By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 09 September 2008 12:00 Images of the production Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid car have leaked onto the internet a week ahead of GM's planned shindig to celebrate the brand's centenary on 16 September 2008. The Volt is a landmark model – a hybrid electric car that can run for 40 miles on battery power alone or use the onboard 1.4 petrol engine for further charge. The new Volt will also be one of the world's first plug-in hybrids when it goes on sale in 2010 (2012 for Europe), allowing it to be hooked into the mains to top up the battery.
